3.4 Adjuvant Drugs
Adjuvant drugs are used to enhance the analgesic efficacy of opioids, treat
concurrent symptoms that exacerbate pain, and provide independent analgesia for
specific types of pain. They may be used in all stages of the analgesic ladder.
Commonly used agents are described below, with approximate daily dosage ranges
listed in Table 14.
